A 34-year-old Lumberton man has been sentenced to federal prison for child exploitation violations in the Eastern District of Texas, Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston said in a news release Sept. 29.
George Patrick Ashy pleaded guilty on June 27 to two counts of production of child pornography and was sentenced to a total of 420 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone, Featherston said.
According to information presented in court March 28, 2016, Ashy produced child pornography, including video and photographic images of himself engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a prepubescent child.
Ashy was originally indicted by a federal grand jury on March 1, 2017 for charges of child pornography violations.
His conviction in federal court will run concurrent to his Texas state prison sentence of 25 years for the same charges. Ashy is already serving another sentence in Hardin County for continued sexual abuse of a child.
