Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m., Beaumont police received a report that a human skull was discovered near Fannett Road and South 23rd Street, in the 4700 block of South 23rd Street.

A Beaumont resident walking in the area found the skull, according to Officer Haley Walters, Beaumont Police Department PIO.

Jefferson County Crime Lab detectives are currently searching the area for additional evidence. The skeletal remains have been sent to a forensic lab for analysis, but BPD is unsure when results will be released.

Jefferson County detectives plan to search the National Missing Persons Database once the lab returns a conclusive analysis.
