An auto-pedestrian collision occurred on I-10 in Orange County Tuesday, Oct. 11, around 8:30 p.m., according to TxDOT. The crash was on the eastbound service road near Cow Bayou.

Michigan resident Youssouf Tandia, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Simonton.

Investigators believe Tandia was walking in the roadway of exit ramp 867. A motorist driving a 2007 Ford SUV traveling eastbound took exit 867 and struck him. The driver, a 78-year-old Orange resident, and his passenger did not suffer any injuries, according to the statement.

The eastbound service road and exit ramp 867 were closed for two hours, but all roadways have now been reopened.

TxDOT reports the incident is still being investigated.
