Vidor ISD has released a statement saying clowns will not be allowed in this year’s homecoming parade.

Vidor ISD administrators “respect the work of the Shriners” and still welcomes the organization to participate in the parade, but asks that they “forego clowns this year.”

This statement comes after social media frenzies with rumors of clown attacks throughout the nation, including a threat to Beaumont ISD last week, as reported by The Examiner.

“Despite the best efforts of teachers, parents, and administrators to dismiss these falsehoods, our younger students continue to be bothered and remain scared,” Vidor ISD said in a statement. “Our students and their comfort are our utmost concern.”
