The Beaumont Art League plans to host Food for Art’s Sake, a fundraiser and exhibit featuring works by artist and local media personality Dan Gresham on Nov. 5 from 7-10 p.m. Courville’s Catering will provide food, and the David Johnson Jazz Group will provide music.

This event will be the first fundraiser like this in the league’s 73-year history.

Gresham was a newscaster for the local CBS affiliate for over 30 years before beginning his career as an artist. Gresham signed his first canvas in
2005 after his three children finished school and left home.

“I was deeply moved by the overwhelming support of local artists who
agreed to donate artwork to our silent auction,” said Pattee Newman, Beaumont Art League chairperson, noting contributions from Jerry Newman, John Alexander, Sam
Keith, Ike Mills, Wayne Goodman, Darryl Troppy, Andy Coughlan and others.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Beaumont Art League.

Johnson said in a statement that the funds raised will help Beaumont Art League continue to “bring the arts to Southeast Texas,” including bringing new exhibits, art classes and children’s activities.

The Beaumont Art League is the oldest art organization in Southeast Texas, established in 1943.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite BAL Food for Arts Sake, calling the office at (409) 833-4179 or e-mailing info@beaumontartleague.org.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Food for Art’s Sake will be held at the Beaumont Art League at 2675 Gulf St.
