Port Arthur Jingle Bell Run set for Dec. 3

Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County has announced the dates for the 2016 Port Arthur Jingle Bell Run, presented by the Sea Rim Striders. The Jingle Bell Run will be held Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m. at 1800 Lakeshore Drive. The Kids K starts at 8 a.m.

Registration is $25 for adults and $12 for kids. The special needs 1K is $10. However, prices will increase to $30 for adults and $15 for kids and special needs after midnight Nov. 13.

Discounts are available for members of the military and Sea Rim Striders.

Online registration is available at runsignup.com, but will be closing Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m. In-person registration closes Dec. 3 at 7:30 a.m.

T-shirts are guaranteed through Nov. 13. Shoe bells will be provided for all participants, and dressing up as an elf is encouraged.

Packets may be picked up at On the Run, 229 Dowlen Road, on Dec. 1, inside the lobby of the Carl Parker Center on the Lamar State College Port Arthur campus on Dec. 2, and on site on the day of the run in the Carl Parker Center parking lot.

First, second and third place awards will be given for males and females in the 5K by age group.

The kids race is also timed, but awards are not grouped by age.

All participants and sponsors are invited to attend a pancake breakfast after the event, hosted by Neighbors Emergency Center on the second floor of the Carl A. Parker Center in the banquet room.
