The 100 Club held its annual membership meeting and luncheon Thursday, Nov. 10,
at the C.A. “Pete” Shelton Firefighter Memorial Plaza at 400 Walnut St. in downtown Beaumont, hosted by Chief Anne Huff and the Beaumont Fire-Rescue Services staff.

Beaumont Deputy Chief Fire Marshall Joe Condina cooked his renowned firehouse gumbo, and the luncheon was sponsored by Rao’s Bakery, Moncla’s and Coastal
Welding Supply.

The 100 Club is an organization of private citizens and businesses that provides financial and moral support to law enforcement officers and firefighters. Their primary focus is to assist the dependent spouse and children of those killed in the line of duty.

“It’s been a great year,” current 100 Club president Warren Claybar said. “It looks like
we’re going to raise maybe $250,000 more than what we’ve done last year. We added 500 new members this year alone.”

Claybar also said that the first annual golf tournament was a success.

“We’re most grateful that we weren’t called upon to have to write a family a check,” he added.

“It’s so good to know that the 100 Club is there for all of the firefighters in our area and their families,” Beaumont Fire Chief Anne Huff said. “Without that support, those families would be struggling at the worst time of their lives, so we appreciate everything that they do to try to help all first responders.”

Beaumont Police Department will be the first department to mount 100 Club awareness decals to all of their police vehicles, 100 Club of Southeast Texas secretary Cindy Lindsay said.
