A homeless woman killed in a hit-and-run Thursday night on College Street has now been identified as Bonnie Lee Casaneve, 67, according to Beaumont Police.

The woman was hit and killed while pushing a shopping cart across College Street , Beaumont Police spokesperson Officer Carol Riley said in a news release.

Beaumont Police received a call about an auto-pedestrian crash about 8:31 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in the 8300 block of College Street, Riley said.

Officers responding to the scene determined that the woman was walking south crossing College Street when a white car, possibly with tinted windows, going westbound hit her and fled the scene.

Then another car also hit the woman, but the driver of the second car and another bystander stopped and called police, Riley said.

The driver of the white car who hit and killed the woman has still not been found as of Dec. 5.

“Investigators are asking that the driver please come forward and do the right thing,” Riley said.

Beaumont Police are still searching for the suspect’s vehicle. If you have any information about this crash, call Beaumont Police at (409) 832-1234 or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).
