The Golden Triangle Chapter of The Links Incorporated gathered with the St. Anthony Cathedral School’s seventh and eighth grade handbell choir Dec. 7 at Serenity Assisted Care Living Facility on Pennsylvania Avenue to bring Christmas to the senior residents.

“We are a sisterhood of fellowship that reaches out to the community,” said Dorrie Adolph, committee chair for protocol and social activities with the Golden Triangle Chapter of The Links.

The Links Incorporated is an international nonprofit established in 1946 for professional women of color. There are currently 283 chapters in 41 states including nearly 14,000 women, according to the organization’s website.

Locally, the sisters support the arts and youth, encouraging STEM education and honoring heritage.

Sixteen senior residents live at Serenity Assisted Care Living Facility, 11 men and five women, Adolph said.

She said The Links came to share Christmas carols and gift bags with the residents, as well as some holiday readings, including the Legend of the Candy Cane.

“One of our Links sisters secured St. Anthony’s Cathedral handbell choir to come out and perform for the senior residents here today,” Adolph said. “We wanted to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the facility. We’re going to have dinner with them and just fellowship.”

St. Anthony’s handbell choir performed traditional Christmas hymns like “Silent Night” and “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.”
