A man was shot in the chest after a fight in a Port Arthur apartment parking lot Thursday evening.
The shooting happened at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Villa Main Apartment complex located in the 900 block of Main Avenue in Port Arthur, Port Arthur Police Department said in a news release.
Investigators determined a man and a woman had a fight with other people in the parking lot. A man pointed a gun at the person who called 911 and shot his car several times while he was trying to leave the scene, which caused him to hit multiple other cars in the parking lot, according to Port Arthur Police.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
While the officers were still at Villa Main Apartments investigating, they received another call about a gunshot victim on Green Avenue. The man had a gunshot wound that grazed his upper chest, and he was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The man told officers he was shot at Villa Main Apartments, but he did not give many details about the circumstances, Port Arthur Police said.
Port Arthur Police processed the crime scene and detectives are still investigating this incident.
As of Dec. 13, Port Arthur Police spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter said no arrests have been made in this case.
“The victim wishes not to press charges and refused to provide information to investigators,” she said in a e-mail.
