To celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday, the Theodore Johns Library invites the community to “meet one of Shakespeare’s closest friends, John Heminges,” according to the event
announcement.
Neil and Mary Early, who are from Beaumont, will be performing a historical reenactment at the Johns Library on Tuesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. as part of their storytelling team “Stories and More,” which performs puppet shows, music, and stories and characters from classic literature, history and the Bible.
Neil Early will be portraying Master John Heminges in a live reenactment.
Heminges and Shakespeare were members of the same company, performed together, participated in major moments of life together, and celebrated together, Mary Early said in an release.
Mary plays a character that she created, “the inimitable Ms. Mary, the world’s foremost enquiring world reporter,” who interviews the featured character and “acts as a bridge through time and space” to bring the audience into the world of the story, according
to the event announcement.
Neil Early plans to perform selections from the plays and how he would have accomplished some of the performances without his fellow actors, Burbage and Kemp.
The Theodore Johns Library is located at 4255 Fannett Road in Beaumont.
