Linda’s Lighthouse is hosting its second annual back-to-school event in Port Arthur from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Kingdom Dominion Church, 3600 Memorial Blvd.

The group is sponsoring a backpack and school supply giveaway, haircuts and hairstyles, wellness checks, raffles, food, fun and entertainment. This is a free event for the whole family.

Linda’s Lighthouse was created in memory of long-time special education teacher Linda Griffin Lucas, an avid supporter of the growth of the Port Arthur community.

“To fulfill her hopes, our primary focus is to uplift and provide opportunities for our youth and elders,” the organizers said. “We plan to illuminate the way for those in need
by bringing knowledge of educational and community resources.”
