Police are asking for your help in identifying a toddler found dead on the beach in Galveston.
The boy’s body was found on the sand near the surf in the 700 block of Seawall Boulevard after someone called 911 on Oct. 20, Galveston Police said in a Facebook post.
No one reported a missing child to Galveston Police. Investigators were not able to find any of the child’s relatives.
Galveston Police and nearby police departments and federal agencies searched their databases for any reports of missing people that could match the child, but found none.
“In an effort to identify this child, the Galveston Police Department contacted one of the most experienced and best forensic artists in the nation, Lois Gibson, and she was able to render a sketch,” Galveston Police said.
The child is about 3 feet tall with a slender build, black hair and brown eyes.
Investigators are still waiting on the official autopsy report from the medical examiner, but Galveston Police said they are treating the child’s death as a homicide until they can prove otherwise.
Galveston Police are asking for everyone to look at this child and see if you recognize him.
“Someone somewhere knows this child and can help us identify him,” Galveston Police said.
Galveston Police detectives looked into another similar case of a missing child in Hawkins County, but the missing boy was returned to his family and the case closed as of Oct. 23.
“These two cases are not related, and this is not the same child,” Galveston Police said.
