Hurricane Harvey survivors receiving transitional shelter assistance who are eligible can receive an extension to stay temporarily in hotels while looking for a place to live, FEMA said in a news release Oct. 31.

Disaster survivors who still need the hotel sheltering program can have their stay extended until Nov. 27, according to FEMA.

People currently sheltered in hotels under the transitional shelter assistance program will receive a phone call, email, or text message during mid-term eligibility review letting them know if they are still eligible on Nov. 7.

Officials said disaster survivors must be registered with FEMA for disaster assistance and meet other criteria to be considered for transitional shelter assistance.
