All five of the suspects in a motel robbery in Lake Charles are now in custody, police said.

The robbery happened at a motel on Highway 90, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Oct. 30. Law enforcement first received the call about the robbery and subsequent shooting about 10:45 p.m. Oct. 22.

The woman called and told 911 dispatch that she had left the scene of the robbery with a shooting victim in her car and she planned to wait for law enforcement in a parking lot on Broad Street. When deputies arrived, first responders took the shooting victim to a nearby hospital.

The woman told detectives investigating the case that she was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car and her husband was sitting in the passenger’s seat in the parking lot of the motel on Highway 90 when four armed suspects came up to their car and got inside.

Once the four people got inside the car, they demanded she surrender her personal belongings at gunpoint, the woman told investigators.

When the woman refused, she said they shot her husband, took her belongings and got out of her car. Then she was able to flee the motel parking lot with her injured husband and called 911.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives identified one of the four suspects at Tammy Pryor, 18, of Iowa, Louisiana. The next day, Judge Guy Bradberry signed warrant for her arrest in the amount of $500,000, since she is charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Pryor turned herself into the Oakdale Police Department Oct. 24, and she was arrested and taken to be booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Detectives identified the four other suspects in the armed robbery and shooting, in addition to Pryor as Broderick Record, 19, of Oakdale, Kenneth Sweet, 19, of Lake Charles, Fabien Record, 18, of Mamou, and Mauricio Labrada-Hernandez, 19, of Glenmora. Judge Guy Bradberry signed warrants for all four of the men Oct. 24, and all four were charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery in amounts of $500,000 each.

Fabien Record was found in Oakdale the same evening on Oct. 24 and arrested.

Broderick Record turned himself into the Glenmora Police Department Oct. 28, and he is currently awaiting extradition to the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Kenneth Sweet turned himself into the Oakdale Police Department, and he was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center Oct. 27.

Mauricio Labrada-Hernandez turned himself into the Oakdale Police Department, and he was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on Oct. 28.

As of Oct. 30, the woman’s husband is still hospitalized in critical condition.
