Three cars collided in front of the Pilot fuel gas station on Highway 62 in Orange County Thursday, Texas DPS said.

The accident happened about 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, Texas DPS spokesperson Sergeant Stephanie Davis said in a news release.

State troopers who responded to the scene said that a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was headed northbound on Highway 62, and a 2008 Ford Mustang was going southbound followed by a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck.

When the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled into the center turn lane to turn left into the Pilot gas station parking lot, she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and turned directly into the path of the Ford Mustang, state troopers said.

The Ford Mustang hit the Jeep Grand Cherokee, causing the Ford Mustang to spin. Then the Chevrolet pickup truck hit the Ford Mustang.

The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Connie Rogers, 73, of Bridge City, was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford mustang, Stephanie Garza, 37, of Vidor, was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries, along with 16-year-old and 10-year-old passengers who were also seriously injured.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, Manuel Garcia, 25, of Orange, was not injured.

Northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 62 were closed for about an hour.

Texas DPS state troopers are still investigating this crash, Davis said.
