A Port Arthur man arrested in connection with a recent fatal shooting admitted to shooting the victim in the chest, according to Port Arthur Police.
Diante Malik Burrell, 20, told officers that he used “his Draco gun” in the deadly shooting, which he described as an AK-47 pistol, according to court documents filed in the probable cause arrest affidavit.
Port Arthur Police officers responded to the deadly shooting at the Avery Trace Apartments on Nov. 7 at about 7:35 p.m.
The officers found Javonte Jack had been shot several times in the chest, according to statement in the probable cause affidavit.
Jack was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Burrell ran when detectives confronted him at a house on Fourth Street around 9 a.m. Nov. 8, but he was arrested shortly after.
