Beaumont Police didn’t find a burglar when they responded to a burglar alarm at Popeye’s restaurant on Phelan Boulevard in the West End at 4:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, but they did find a fire, Beaumont Fire-Rescue Capt. Jimmy Blanchard said in a news release.

Beaumont Police officers notified the fire department, and Beaumont Fire-Rescue
fire crews arrived within minutes, he said.

“The fire crews made quick work of a fire in the kitchen of the restaurant,” Blanchard said. “There were no injuries.”

Popeye’s will be closed until repairs are made.
