A Hamshire child died in an ATV
accident Monday, Nov. 27, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“It is with heavy heart that we announce that 10-year-old Trevor Chesson of Hamshire, Texas, died yesterday evening,” Captain Crystal Holmes said. “He was riding at his family home when the ATV crashed and rolled over on him.”

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies and EMS responded to the accident scene at a home on Hwy 124 near Hamshire Road just before 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27.

“Help was immediate, but all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful,” she said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Chesson family and the communities of Hamshire
and Fannett.”

Chesson was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
