A man from Lake Charles was arrested for not meeting his sex offender requirements Wednesday.

The arrest happened about midnight Wednesday, Nov. 22 near the intersection of 11th Street and Fourth Avenue in Lake Charles when Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a car for a traffic violation, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies found out that the driver, Kenion Boutte, 20, of Lake Charles, was a sex offender driving a car not registered with law enforcement, which was in violation of his sex offender registration requirements. Boutte also did not have a valid driver’s license.

Boutte was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with failure to register as a sex offender, not using a turn signal, and driving without a license.

Judge David Ritchie set Boutte’s bond at $51,600, with special conditions that he cannot be released until it is cleared by probation and parole.

Boutte was originally convicted of aggravated assault of a child in Houston in 2015.

Calcasieu Paris Sheriff’s Office Senior Corporal Casey Steech was the arresting deputy on this case, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
