For the eighth year in a row, Beaumont Animal Care is participating in the national “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” program. Across the country, over 13,000 pet rescue organizations are trying to empty their kennels for Christmas by encouraging people to invite a shelter pet home for the holidays.

Anyone who is interested in making this Christmas and New Year’s into a Happy Holidays for a pet in need or who want more information should contact Beaumont Animal Care, shelter staff said in a news release.

You can stop by the shelter and fill out a foster application, Beaumont Animal Care said. Anyone who qualifies can also apply for a free spay or neuter for their own pets.

Beaumont Animal Care staff said they have an average population of 60 dogs and 30 cats available for adoption, posted online at www.petfinder.com and on www.facebook.com/beaumontanimalcare.

The goal for the “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” program is to have each of these pets into a home by noon on Dec. 23.

Beaumont Animal Care is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
