Beaumont EMS won this year’s state provider award at Texas’ statewide annual conference.
The Texas Department of State Health Services presented the 2017 Private or Public Provider Award to the City of Beaumont Public Health’s EMS team during the annual Texas EMS Conference held in Fort Worth.
“This award honors a ground or air organization that demonstrates leadership in
EMS in patient care, public access, medical control, disaster preparedness, public education or training,” the City of Beaumont explained in a news release.
Beaumont EMS was originally established as a Mobile Intensive Care Unit in 1982, and currently operates six ambulances and responds to about 19,000 calls for service each year.
“Beaumont EMS is equipped with the latest medical technologies such as 12-Lead ECG monitor and defibrillator, capable of transmitting data, capnography, non-invasive monitoring of carbon monoxide, electronic patient care reporting and powered-assist stretcher and loading system,” the City of Beaumont said.
Besides responding to calls for paramedics and ambulance services, Beaumont EMS also runs a child safety seat program with four certified car passenger seat technicians that work with Beaumont Public Health to provide car seats for families that cannot afford them.
Paramedics with Beaumont EMS also lead CPR and Stop The Bleed campaign training for the community, along with other educational programs dealing with injury awareness and prevention.
“Beaumont EMS is also active in disaster preparedness and was the primary EMS provider during Hurricane Harvey by responding to requests for medical needs, flooding rescues, and medical support for sheltering victims,” the City of Beaumont said. “The men and women of Beaumont EMS went above and beyond to ensure the safety and health of this community.”
