Suspect wanted in slaying of Liberty County family’s pony

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the person who shot and killed a pet pony.

A treasured family pony affectionately known as “Chicken Nugget” was shot and killed sometime during the night of Tuesday, Nov. 7, or the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 8 on the family ranch on Private Road 2045 in Liberty County, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Captain Ken DeFoor said in a news release.

The family’s small pet was found dead in the pasture with a gunshot to the head at about 10:30 a.m.

DeFoor said investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have any knowledge as to who may be responsible for the death of this small pony.

The Multi-County Crime Stoppers Organization, consisting of Montgomery, Liberty and San Jacinto counties, are offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for killing this family pet.

Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867) or the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500. The identity of any person calling in a tip will remain anonymous, DeFoor said.
