A wild pig charged a Galveson County Sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday morning after residents in Bacliff called 911 dispatch about a pig causing problems in the neighborhood.

Two Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4400 block of Third Street in Bacliff at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a news releases.

The deputies who were dispatched to the call were the on-duty patrol deputy and a livestock deputy. The property owner told deputies that the pig wasn’t theirs and was acting aggressively towards people and their pets.

When the deputies tried to come near the pig, it charged them, hitting one of the deputies in the leg. Then the deputy shot and killed the pig.

The deputy was checked by EMS and returned to duty, Trochesset said.
