The City of Nederland announced Dec. 13 that normal trash pickup schedules have resumed.

City officials said it became necessary for the city’s trash trucks to support the Hurricane Harvey debris operation in mid-September, which delayed regular trash and green waste service for two months, the City of Nederland said in a news release. The debris operation concluded Friday, Nov. 10.

The Nederland Solid Waste Department started working overtime starting Saturday, Nov. 11, which meant working on weekends, extending the shift to dusk, and then extending the shift to earlier in the morning, all in an effort to catch up with the trash and green waste that was delayed due to Tropical Storm Harvey.

The City of Nederland said the sanitation workers will resume their normal trash schedule beginning Monday, Dec. 18.

“Remember to separate trash piles and green waste piles,” the City of Nederland said, “and remember the city does not pick up tires.”
