A Port Arthur man led deputies on a chase Monday morning over the Veterans Memorial Bridge and Rainbow Bridge.
Jefferson County’s Fugitive Warrant Division tried to serve David Weeks a felony warrant for evading arrest in a motor vehicle just before 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18 in the 2800 block of Manning Street in Port Arthur, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Marcus McLellan said in a news release.
When deputies approached Weeks at his home, he ran away on foot through the neighborhood, then circled back to his house, got into his car and led deputies on a chase through Port Arthur.
Weeks led deputies on a chase eastbound on Highway 73 over the Veterans Memorial Bridge to Bridge City, then he turned around and drove westbound back over the Rainbow Bridge down Highway 73 back to his house on Manning Street, where he was taken into custody.
He was arrested for the original warrant and then charged again with evading detention with a motor vehicle.
Weeks was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
