Beaumont industrial inspection company recovers radioactive instrument

A Beaumont company that specializes in industrial inspection services offered a reward for a missing low-grade radioactive instrument used for welding.

Versa Integrity Group found the missing instrument at 2:43 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow said in a news release. The radioactive instrument had been missing for about four hours.

Beaumont Emergency Management was notified about the missing instrument on about 10:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, she said.

“The tool is similar in size to a loaf of bread and weighs approximately 60 pounds,” Morrow said.
