Museum of the Gulf Coast launched its annual community art contest — now open for the first time to all ages, Museum of the Gulf Coast Education, Tour, and Volunteer Coordinator Andy McCall said in a news release.
Entries for artists ages 18 and under are still free, McCall said, but children ages 12-18 can choose to pay the $10 admission fee if they wish to enter their art as an adult to make them eligible for the “Best in Show” cash prize. There are separate categories for
professional and non-professional entries.
This year’s theme is “Texas Strong,” McCall said.
“We believe it is important to bring some much needed positivity to our communities and into our gallery,” he said.
Entry forms are available at www.museumofthegulfcoast.org, and at the front desk at 700 Procter Street in downtown Port Arthur. Entries are due at the museum by Feb. 3.
The community art exhibit will run Feb. 8 to March 31.
