The one-car accident happened just before 5 a.m, Friday, Jan. 12, on Louisiana Highway 12 about 6 miles from the Texas-Louisiana state line near Starks, Louisiana State Police Troop D Sergeant James Anderson said in a news release.
State troopers investigating said that Charles Bradley Roberts, 54, of Alexandria was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra west on Highway 12 when his car went off the road in a slight curve and hit a tree broadside.
Roberts was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office, Anderson said. No one else was in the car at the time of the accident.
Investigators took a toxicology sample from Roberts and submitted it to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
