Stolen car recovered after shots fired, car chase in Port Arthur

Port Arthur Police found a stolen car from Hardin County while responding to a call about shots fired.

The 911 call reporting deadly conduct came in Friday, Jan. 12 in the 2600 block of Ninth Street, Port Arthur Police spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter said in a news release.

While Port Arthur Police officers were on scene, more shots were fired and eyewitnesses gave them a description of the suspect vehicle.

The officers found the suspect vehicle near West 14th Street and Dewalt Avenue near West Port Arthur. When they turned on lights and sirens to stop the car, the suspects drove away.

While officers were chasing the suspect’s car, two Port Arthur Police patrol cars were damaged.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Officers found a weapon in the suspect’s car.

Port Arthur Police officers discovered the suspect’s car was stolen out from Hardin County.

Port Arthur Police detectives are still interviewing the suspect and two female juveniles who were in the suspect’s stolen car.

The investigation is still ongoing, Carpenter said.
