A man from Lumberton was arrested and charged with failing to register as a sex offender where he worked in Louisiana.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies said they received a tip Monday, Jan. 15 about convicted sex offender Dana Pratt, 51, of Lumberton working at a nearby plant without notifying authorities about his employment, which is required by law for all registered sex offenders.
Deputies investigating were able to confirm that Pratt had been employed with the company since July 2017, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. They also found out that Pratt notified Texas authorities, where he is currently registered as a sex offender, about his employment in Louisiana, but he failed to notify Calcasieu Parish authorities.
Judge Guy Bradberry signed a warrant Tuesday, Jan. 16 in the amount of $25,000 for Pratt’s arrest.
Pratt was found at his job on Saturday, Jan. 20 and arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender. He was released on bond later the same day.
Pratt was originally convicted of criminal sexual conduct of the third degree in Michigan in 1995.
