The City of Beaumont Event Facilities, widely known as “Discover Beaumont,” has commissioned local artist Summer Lydick to paint a Destination Wall on Main Street at the Beaumont Civic Center.
Cities like Houston, Austin, Nashville, and Los Angeles have multiple destination walls
that attract thousands of people who use the walls as backdrops in their photos and selfies, the City of Beaumont Event Facilities said in a news release.
Beaumont Event Facilities operates entertainment venues in downtown and focuses on creating and hosting unique quality-of-life activities that attract tourists to Southeast Texas.
Concerts, festivals and movie nights continue to bring people downtown, and the destination wall will be an added attraction, with the goal to promote and inspire
positivity, the city said.
“We want people to be inspired to take photos and enjoy our downtown,” Beaumont’s Event Facilities director Lenny Caballero said.
The department has plans to offer T-shirts, mugs and other merchandise with the image in the spring.
